LEB Construction has completed a roofing project at the Ysgol Gymunedol Bro Siôn Cwilt.
The school is situated near the village of Synod Inn, between Aberaeron and Cardigan and
is a bi-lingual school for 120 pupils aged between three and 11 years.
Built around 12 years ago, the school has in the last few year suffered from a leaking roof
which was causing damage to the internal finishes. The scope of works involved removing
the existing roof tiles and felt underlay, and installing the Britmet 2000 slate tiles on new
Tyvek Supro Pro.
The 1,500m2 roof involved some challenging technical details involving finishing around
Velux windows, solar panels, and a large glass roof lantern. The team worked closely with
UK manufacturer Britmet to provide technical solutions and adapt existing products and
fixing methods to prevent further weather ingress, and complete the roofing system. LEB`s
roofing team completed the Britmet installation training and as such can provide a 40 year
manufacturers-backed guarantee for the roof.
Chris Farmery, Contracts Manager at LEB Construction said: “Our team is very solutions
driven especially with technical issues. We take time to think through the problems and
review with the client to provide a resolution that works for the client and for the project team.
The determination to deliver a quality end product, on what was sometimes a very
challenging scheme, is a testament to the team’s drive and work ethic.”
